Marquette Board of Light & Power

The Marquette Board of Light and Power is a municipal electric utility serving approximately 17,000 customers in the city of Marquette and all or parts of nine townships in Marquette County: Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, West Branch, Richmond, Chocolay, Skandia, Sands and Forsyth.

The MBLP serves its customers from an office/ warehouse complex located at 2200 Wright Street. The administrative offices, billing department, customer service, distribution and meter departments and vehicle repair shops are all situated in this facility. The Shiras Steam Plant is located at the foot of Hampton Street and is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
