Winter Roots Film Festival presents by PWPL
In partnership with Hiawatha Music Co-op and the Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center, Peter White Public Library will be hosting the Winter Roots Film Festival, an afternoon of film and original musical accompaniments.
Starting at 10 a.m. on March 18 in the Shiras Room, PWPL will screen two award-winning documentaries about traditional/folk music and musicians. The first film, In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey, chronicles musician and musicologist Fahey’s contributions to the understanding and appreciation of the Delta blues, Appalachian bluegrass, and New Orleans jazz.
The second film, Greenwich Village: Music that Defined a Generation, features reflections by such influential musicians as Pete Seeger, Carly Simon, Judy Collins, and Arlo Guthrie on how the artists/musicians of
