ABOUT YOUTH VOLUME
Clara Hardie launched Youth Volume's second studio here in Marquette last year, after a dozen years of teaching in Detroit.
Youth Volume is accepting new students AND new donors who believe every child can change the world!
For more information about Youth Volume and our vision, visit www.youthvolume.org
Our community provides 100% of our students with space to practice creative collaboration within a socioeconomically diverse group of people.
Grassroots support from individual donors who give monthly and small grants are how we continue to make quality music accessible to low income families in Marquette and Detroit.
Youth Volume's founding studio began as a spin off of the Rosa Parks Youth Program within Capuchin Soup Kitchen! There are still 7 virtual Detroit Youth Volume students, and they interact with Marquette's 13 in person students monthly on Zoom during a hybrid Group Class. Eventually we all hope to meet in each city for new genre workshops!
In addition to weekly classical private lessons, Youth Volume students collaborate with local musicians to create NEW songs. During our annual workshop series, they learn to play in non-classical genres that have historical significance to their cities. The culminating show is also an album release party!
Past genres celebrated with an original album have included hip hop, jazz, and electronic music. In 2024, Detroit Youth Volume will work with Tyler Duncan, who is an expert in both Irish and disco music. Will they invent a new genre?!
AND, who will MARQUETTE Youth Volume find to collaborate alongside to make an album? Check out http://www.youthvolume.org/albums.html for inspiration and let us know what you think!

VIOLIN ART AUCTION
Sunday December 17
1-4p
Barrel & Beam
Consider also joining in on our VIOLIN ART AUCTION fundraising event. Bid on some art for a good cause and enjoy some local barrel aged beer, wine, or mead. A handful of young violinists and cellists will play for you, alongside local musicians.
Auction will feature a small fleet of beyond-repair violins, cellos and antique cases that have been reconstructed by select Detroit and Marquette-area woodworkers, painters, stencilers, fiber & collage artists.
