SNA Charity Ball 2020

We are nursing students who are part of the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) at Northern Michigan University. SNA is a registered student organization and we help organize fundraising event such as the annual charity. Each year we host a Charity Ball to help a non-profit organization of our choice in the local community. Since 2008, we have helped 11 different organizations including UP Pink Power, Care Clinic, Room at the Inn, Willow farm therapeutic riding and so forth.

This year we have voted to fundraise for Trace Holistic. Trace Holistic is a new nonprofit organization that is working towards providing forensic exams to victims of sexual assault or abuse and later testifying on their behalf if they choose to prosecute their case. The organization also hosts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training courses for nurses throughout the Upper Peninsula. Sexual assault victims in rural areas face many barriers when seeking services. The organization collaborated with Superior Child Advocacy Center in the Suunta Integrative Health Facility to provide resources to survivors in the local community.
