Senior Arts: Learning About Cubism

Senior Visual Arts classes are held each month at the City of Marquette Arts & Culture Center, located in the lower level of Peter White Public Library. In addition to January’s Paper Crafting classes, we’re excited to offer an additional class, Learning About Cubism, taught by Colleen Maki!

Students will briefly review the history of Cubist art and the work of Pablo Picasso, then learn three techniques for nontraditional shading and a Picasso-inspired technique for drawing in the cubist style.

Students are welcome to bring a very simple image of something they’d like to create in cubist art form. Examples could include flowers, still-life photos, or simple outdoor scenes.

This class will take place on Wednesday, January 31 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

NOTE: This is a three-hour class! 

Senior Arts classes are free to City of Marquette, Chocolay Township, Powell Township, and Marquette Township residents ages 55+. Non-residents are welcome to attend for a small donation of $5 per class to help cover the cost of supplies.
