Modern Classics--Adaptation

The Peter White Public Library Invites film fans to a free screening of the modern classic Adaptation on Thursday, September 14 at 6:30 pm in the library’s community room.

Released in 2002, this comedic drama follows the struggles of Charlie Kaufman as he tries to adapt Valerie Thomas’ The Orchid Thief for the screen.  While he wants to stay true to the novel, he has difficulty finding enough material to flesh out the main character and the theme of the beauty of orchids.  Similarly, Charlie is going through struggles in his own life, too insecure to act upon his feelings for Amelia Kavan.  Starring Nicolas Cage, Meryl Steep and Chris Cooper, this movie is rated R and runs 1 hour 54 minutes.
