Laura Reilly: Michigan’s Minimum Wage and Paid Medical Leave Acts in Limbo.
Attendees will be able to:
Learn about Mothering Justice v. Dana Nessel, decided July 19, 2022, in which the Michigan Court of Claims held the state legislature’s adoption of the Minimum Wage and Paid Medical Leave Acts was unconstitutional.
Identify the effect of the case, which was to void the current Minimum Wage and Paid Medical Leave Acts, making compliance by employers a challenge.
Plan to comply with any changes in the law that unfold in the coming months as the case is ultimately decided in the Michigan courts and the laws are reexamined by the legislature or the voters.

About the Speakers:
Laura Katers Reilly: Attorney at Law at Kendricks, Bordeau, Keefe, Seavoy & Reilly, P.C.
Laura is a Marquette native. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School where she served as editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Law Review. Laura maintains her Wisconsin licensure as a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Laura serves as a management representative on the board of the U.P. Labor-Management Council and is active in other local and civic organizations. She has also been named as a “Rising Star” in Michigan Super Lawyers.
