The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and includes community discussion after the film.
Researchers have discovered a dangerous biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect during childhood. Toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at greater risk for disease, addiction, homelessness and prison time.
Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope chronicles the dawn of a movement determined to fight back. Trailblazers in pediatrics, education and social welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to disrupt cycles of disease, addiction and violence.
Attendees are asked to register prior to the event, as seating is limited.
The film is being made available by the Michigan ACE Initiative, Michigan Health Endowment Fund and Michigan Association of Health Plans in cooperation with Grow & Lead, Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Great Lakes Recovery Centers and Marquette Senior High School.
