Alzheimer's Awareness: The Basics

On Wednesday, June 28, at 7:00 pm, Lindsay Juricek, Regional Manager of the Upper Peninsula Division of the Alzheimer’s Association, will present a talk entitled “Alzheimer’s Disease:  The Basics,” in the community room of the Peter White Public Library.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s which by 2050 could rise to 16 million.  In 2017, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia will cost the nation $259 billion which could rise to $1.1 trillion by 2050.  1 in 3 seniors die with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, making it the 6^th leading cause of death in the U.S.

Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging.  If you or someone you know is affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, it’s time to learn the facts.  This program provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment, and much more.  June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, so please join us in learning and dispelling the myths regarding this disease.
