ART WEEK Honoring the Spirit

ART WEEK Honoring the Spirit

Presented by City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center at Carp River Kiln

Mother and daughter artists, Sherri Loonsfoot Aldred and Aiyana Aldred reconnect to their Anishinaabe culture and relationship to the land through art and language. Experience plein air painting and Ojibwe language through artist demonstration and pop-up language school.

Sherri was the last generation of her family to attend Boarding School in the 1970s. Sherri and Aiyana are Marquette-based artists and Anishinaabe Ojibway citizens of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.

This activity is part of the City of Marquette's 2022 Art Week. For more information on Art Week, visit our Art Week homepage. For a full listing of this year's events, click here. Please note that event details are subject to change; online listings will be updated as necessary.
