ART WEEK Cultural Conversation: From the Rock to the Dock

ART WEEK Cultural Conversation: From the Rock to the Dock

Presented by City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center and Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center at Founders Landing - Gaine's Rock Parking Lot

In this walking tour, Daniel Truckey, Director of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, will tell the history of the people who have lived and worked along the shoreline of the City of Marquette. This will include the Anishinaabe presence with sites where they lived and fished for hundreds of years, the travels of the French voyageurs and missionaries , the arrival of the first settlers of what would become Marquette, and the industry that grew along the shore.

Meet us at the parking lot near Gaine's Rock on the south end of Founders Landing!

Cultural Conversations will be held daily at 12:00pm throughout Art Week, hosted by different local experts at different spots along our great lakeshore.

This activity is part of the City of Marquette's 2022 Art Week. For more information on Art Week, visit our Art Week homepage. For a full listing of this year's events, click here. Please note that event details are subject to change; online listings will be updated as necessary.
