ART WEEK Public Art Walking Tour

ART WEEK Public Art Walking Tour

Presented by City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center at Madgoodies Studio

Led by the City's Office of Arts and Culture Manager Tiina Morin, this walking tour will explore an assortment of downtown public art pieces and their history. The tour will begin with coffee (donated by Contrast Coffee) in front of the newest addition to Marquette's public art collection: Natural - created as part of the Power of Words Project - on the corner of Ohio and Third across from Madgoodies Studio. A walking group will learn about the artists and intentions behind pieces including the Mino Bimaadiziwin Mural, The Courthouse Gates, the Wedig benches, and more. Ending at Father Marquette Park, participants will be welcomed to participate in the Cultural Connection event (a series of events inspired by the City's cultural trail project) beginning at noon which will discuss the role of Public Art in cultural representation and interpreting the history and heritage of our area.

This activity is part of the City of Marquette's 2022 Art Week. For more information on Art Week, visit our Art Week homepage. For a full listing of this year's events, click here. Please note that event details are subject to change; online listings will be updated as necessary.
