The Marquette Regional History Center Announces History Award Winners

The Marquette Regional History Center is pleased to announce the 2021 history award recipients. The Helen Longyear Paul Award goes to Rachel Crary for her exemplary research and writing on local Marquette County history and the Peter White Award goes to the League of Women Voters of Marquette County for their 2020 presentation titled A Brief but Spectacular History of Women’s Suffrage in America.

Marquette County has a rich history and cultural heritage that inspires many to interpret, preserve and share it. As a history institution it is our responsibility to recognize those efforts and promote the achievements of people and organizations making history today. The Marquette Regional History Center began an awards program in 1984. The Helen Longyear Paul Award is given to recognize individuals and the Peter White Award honors foundations, companies, organizations and institutions. Both recognize exceptional effort in the enhancement, restoration, conservation or interpretation of the history of our area.

Please join us as the awards will be presented at the MRHC Annual Meeting on February 23, 6:30 p.m. at the History Center. The meeting is free, open to the public and will offer refreshments, a brief business meeting, the awards ceremony and a presentation on the sauna by Ron Hill, president of the Lake Superior Chapter of Finlandia Foundation National, in celebration of National Sauna Week.
