Second session of the U.P. Nonprofit Conference — Recalibrated focusing on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
With a diversity of experience, expertise, and perspectives, a nonprofit is in a stronger position to plan for the future, manage risk, make prudent decisions, and take full advantage of opportunities. But diversity doesn’t work without inclusion strategies and practices. Just recruiting and hiring won’t allow you to truly take advantage of the power of a diverse workplace.
A diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace has increased creativity – a variety of different people from various backgrounds working together will get you better solutions to problems. Diversity encourages personal growth – employees are encouraged to learn new ideas, perspective and connect intellectually and personally to different people. And, employees who have different worldviews can think more independently. If you have similar people at an organization, it’s harder to solve complex problems.
This workshop will provide participants with the understanding of the following:
How to build a personal and professional culture that respects diversity, inclusion and equity
Definitions of diversity, inclusion and equity
The constructs and implications of personal and professional bias
Strategies to move forward in a personal and professional journey (ways to get unstuck)
