Spotlight Variety Show Auditions

Presented by Northern Michigan University at Online/Virtual Space

Northern Michigan University's Department of Theatre and Dance will be holding virtual auditions for our 2020 Spotlight Variety Show this week and we would love to see your best monologue, scene, song, or dance! These auditions are open to NMU students only. If you are interested in auditioning, please read ALL of the below information very carefully, and feel free to reach out with any questions!

In accordance with NMU's social distancing policies, the Spotlight Variety Show will be comprised of solo and duet performances only. Please audition with the piece you would like to perform in the show. You may audition for more than one category (i.e. solo and duet, monologue and two person scene, etc.) but you will have to fill out 2 separate audition forms.

Actors and singers: you may audition in groups of 1 or 2 with a monologue, scene, solo, or duet. If you are auditioning with a two person scene or a duet, we ask that you be in the same room when you audition but that you practice proper social distancing and preferably have already been isolating together. Singers: please use a karaoke track to accompany yourself unless you are playing an instrument. Dancers: please see below for more information.

ACTOR/SINGER AUDITION DATES/TIMES:

Friday, August 7th from 12:00pm - 4:00pm
via Zoom

DANCER AUDITION DATES/TIMES:

Dancers must self-tape and submit 64 counts of original choreography that they would like to perform in the show by no later than Friday, August 14th at 5:00pm. This does not have to be a completed dance; just 64 counts of your best work! Dancers may audition in groups of 1 or 2, but groups of 2 should maintain proper social distancing and preferably have already been isolating together. Submissions should be uploaded directly to your audition form and files should not exceed 1 GB.

PLEASE NOTE: Actors and singers MUST submit their audition paperwork by no later than Thursday, August 6th at 5:00pm in order to be seen. Dancers must submit theirs by no later than Friday, August 14th at 5:00pm. A brief interview will follow the audition to discuss your selection.
