Artificial Intelligence: Technology, A New U.P. Economy

Presented by Innovate Marquette SmartZone at Campfire CoWorks

Innovate Marquette SmartZone continues its monthly Technology: A New U.P. Economy series with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Despite misconceptions, AI is not science fiction, but a here-and-now technology that is changing our lives in profound ways. The reality is that jobs will be eliminated and created. Innovative new uses of AI will impact every industry and here in the U.P., we are not isolated from the effects.

Guest speakers Keith Glendon, technology leader, business owner, and IBM Strategist, and Casey Phillips, AI researcher, Chatbot developer, digital content creator, and passionate technology advocate, discuss the impact of AI in every industry and the effects on the Upper Peninsula.

All around us, our everyday lives are being increasingly-influenced by AI, machine learning, and deep learning. Why did McDonald's just buy an AI company for $300M? How are you served so many online advertisements that seem eerily similar to what you've been thinking about? How does the Uber app 'know' how long it will take a ride to get to you? Who's REALLY flying the airplane you're riding to Hawaii in?

Learn how AI and related technologies are shaping the world and how they relate to our New U.P. Economy. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation begins at 12 p.m. Sandwiches and refreshments provided.
