A old climber reminisces on 40 years of climbing rocks, ice and snow through a few “tall tales” and visual slides.
For over 40 years, Phil Watts, retired Professor Emeritus of Exercise Physiology at NMU, has climbed on rocks, snow and ice in the Upper Peninsula and beyond. In the early 1980’s he extended his climbing avocation into his professional life and became a world leader in climbing-related physiological research. Phil will present slides and a few “tall” tales from his decades of climbing in the high places. Hear about “The Five-Seven Blues” and “Big Dave in the Pickets”. Find out what the Geezer discovered in the bushes at the top of a difficult rock climb on Devil’s Tower. This will be a highly inspirational … well, somewhat entertaining … OK, mildly amusing evening for all! Free admission with donations accepted for the Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition, a Michigan 501c3 non-profit organization that advocates for climbing access in the Upper Peninsula.
Free event - Donations are accepted to support the Upper Peninsula Climbers Association (Michigan 501 C3 non-profit).
