CineArts--Québékoisie

Presented by Peter White Public Library at Peter White Public Library

CineArts Films, a series devoted to foreign and independent films, presents Québékoisie on Friday, October 6 at 6:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room. This is a BYO Dinner Event.

Directors Melanie Carrier and Olivier Higgins examine the relationship between Quebec’s aboriginal and non-aboriginal residents by taking a bike tour along Quebec’s north shore.  Along the way they come in contact with numerous people including an Innu man searching for his Normandy ancestors and the sister of Corporal Marcel Lemay who was killed during the 1990 Oka crisis.  This 2014 documentary is in French with English subtitles and runs 1 hour 10 minutes.

Dan Truckey, Director/Curator of the Beaumier UP Heritage Center will introduce area events for French Canadian Heritage Week.  Québékoisie will be introduced by Associate Professor Grace Chaillier, Center for Native American Studies, Northern Michigan University.

There is no admission charge to attend this event sponsored by the Beaumier UP Heritage Center and the Friends of the Peter White Public Library.  For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4309.
