Tasty Reads, a book group for readers who like to cook, will focus on Savory Sweet:  Simple Preserves from a Northern Kitchen by Beth Dooley at their Tuesday, September 12 meeting at noon in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room.

In Savory Sweet, Dooley takes us into Mette Nielsen’s Danish kitchen where she focuses on the fresh ingredients of the season and simplifies the preserving process.  No hot water baths or pressure cookers needed; primarily chilling and freezing techniques are used.  Given the short growing season in Marquette, these recipes and techniques are invaluable.
