Informational talk by Dr. Conway McLean on care of the diabetic foot
The Peter White Public Library would like to invite patrons to an informational talk on the care of the diabetic foot, presented by Dr. Conway McLean. The presentation will be at 12:00 pm in the library’s Shiras Room.
Dr. McLean will be speaking about diabetic foot care and some of the unique problems this population suffers from. He will be discussing many aspects of their condition including shoe gear, wound healing problems, and the often preventable amputations these people may experience. Dr. McLean will be stressing education since this is one of the keys to keeping your feet healthy.
Dr. McLean is a podiatric physician practicing foot and ankle medicine in the Upper Peninsula. He is board certified in surgery, and is trained in both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Also board certified in wound care, McLean utilizes a variety of new treatments for healing chronic wounds and for neuropathy, the nerve problems developed by diabetics. Dr. McLean has authored many articles, from new surgical techniques to new wound healing technologies. He also specializes in gait mechanics and orthotic therapy. He has lectured nationally on surgery and diabetic care, and was a speaker at the largest podiatric medical conference in the world. Dr. McLean was a full time professor at an accredited medical school, in the department of surgery.
