Wildlife photographer Jeff Richter presents his new documentary.
The Peter White Public Library would like to invite the public to An Evening with Jeff Richter on Monday August 28 at 7:00 pm in the library’s community room. Wildlife photographer and publisher of Nature’s Press, Jeff Richter, will introduce his documentary Shadowing the White Deer and will be available for questions and DVD sales following the showing of the film.
Jeff Richter's journey with film and camera began almost 20 years ago with a walk through Tom Mangelson's gallery in Jackson, Wyoming, that inspired him to take up the camera and teach himself the art and craft of nature photography. Jeff has had hundreds of images appearing in print since then. In 2001, Jeff won an I.R.M.A. Award from the International Regional Magazine Association for his photo essay on albino deer. His 2007 book, White Deer: Ghosts of the Forest, has attracted nation-wide attention after a Wisconsin Public Television In Wisconsin segment on the book began to circulate through the internet. In his new documentary, Jeff recounts the science, history and mystique of the white deer. He has searched out these beautiful anomalies and spent countless hours filming them to produce this gorgeous film. Jeff works exclusively with film, and remains a stalwart against the credibility erosion brought by computer-aided manipulations of digital photography.
There is no admission charge to attend, so come out and enjoy nature in this one-of-a-kind documentary. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
