The battle between charismatic, liberal Father Flynn and strict, conservative Sister Aloysius
The Peter White Public Library Invites film fans to a free screening of the modern classic Doubt on Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 pm in the library’s community room.
Released in 2008, this mystery, set in the Bronx in 1964, pits charismatic, reformative Father Flynn against St. Nicholas Catholic School’s strict conservative principal Aloysius Beauvier. When Sister James expresses her belief that Father Flynn is paying too much attention to Donald, the school’s first black student, Sister Aloysius uses this information to start a crusade against Father Flynn with the hope of retaining the school’s strict disciplinary culture. Starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams, this movie is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour 44 minutes.
