2016 historical drama set in 17th century Japan
Peter White Public Library invites film fans to enjoy a bring your own dinner movie event on Tuesday August 15, for a screening of the 2016 film Silence at 6:00 pm in the library’s community room.
In 17th century Japan, Catholicism is prohibited and priests banned. Despite this unwelcoming, dangerous environment, two Jesuit priests go there searching for their mentor who is rumored to have committed apostasy under torture. Guided by a Japanese fisherman, they discover a small Christian village, but are later themselves found by the Inquisitor, resulting in horrific consequences. Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson, this historical adventure is rated R and runs 2 hours and 41 minutes.
