DocuMonday--I Am Not Your Negro

Presented by Peter White Public Library at Peter White Public Library

DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2016 documentary I Am Not Your Negro on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.

In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter describing the state of race relations in his final project, Remember This House, covering the lives and assassinations of three of his friends:  Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr.  When Baldwin died in 1987, he had only completed 30 pages of his manuscript.  This documentary, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and directed by Raoul Peck, completes the book that Baldwin never finished.  Winning the award for Best Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival and the Dublin Film Critics Circle Award, the film runs for 1 hour 33 minutes and is rated PG-13.
