BookNotes Coffeehouse

The Peter White Public Library would like to invite the public to BookNotes Coffeehouse, an evening of conversation, poetry, music and refreshments.  The event will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 7:00 pm in the library’s community room.

 

This evening, John Smolens, author of numerous novels including Wolf’s Mouth, One Book One Community’s 2017 selection, will interview three poets:  Keith Taylor, Cindy Hunter Morgan, and Thomas Lynch.  Taylor, MFA adjunct faculty member in the English Language and Literature Department at the University of Michigan has written and edited 13 books and chapbooks including Marginalia for a Natural History.  Hunter Morgan, Assistant Professor in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at Michigan State University, has won the 2017 Moveen Prize in Poetry with her most recent collection Harborless.  Lynch, poet, author, and funeral director, has written five collections of poems and four books of essays and has been the subject of two documentaries:  PBS Frontline’s The Undertaking, and Cathal Black’s Learning Gravity for the BBC.

 

The evening will be rounded out with the acoustic, folksy yet eccentric, music of Kerry Yost and Dylan Trost.  Snowbound Books will be there for book sales and signing, and the Peter White Library will provide light refreshments.
