International Day of Yoga Celebration Community Free Class

Presented by Rohana Yoga & Wellness at Ore Dock Boardwalk

 

The Rohana Yoga and Wellness studio located in the beautiful Rosewood building in downtown Marquette, will be hosting a free community event on June 21, 2017 at 7:00p.m. The Rohana studio owners and teachers invite the community to join in celebration of the 3rd annual International Day of Yoga and summer solstice on the boardwalk located behind the Hampton Inn.
There will be a free 90-minute all-level class to live music provided by singer/songwriter Kerry Yost. The class will combine yoga poses, breath work, chanting and meditation, to cultivate peace in the body as well as joining in a worldwide intention towards peace and compassion.
On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The declaration came after the call for the adoption of June 21st as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014 wherein he stated: "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. "
The International Day of Yoga is now celebrated in over 175 nations to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
