Blueberry Dance Festival July 24^th – 27^th 2017

Kaufman Auditorium & Second Skin Shop are proud to present the 10th Annual Blueberry Dance Festival July 24^th – July 27^th, 2017. The Festival will start off with a variety of free dance classes taught by local instructors, dance competition of all ages, then switch to master dance classes taught by special guest artists. The festival will wrap up with a Dance Showcase by professional artists, competition winners, & participants from the workshops.

Special guest artists include Amanda Stanley, a contortionist & aerial performer and instructor at PEAK Gymnastics. She has trained under Lucia Aerial Performing Arts in Kansas City for nearly 5 years. Michelle Sliter-Goodman, has a BFA in Dance from Wright State University & graduated high school from Interlochen Arts Academy. She has performed professionally with Walt Disney Productions, the Dayton Opera, La Comedia Dinner Theatre, as well as The Sorg and Whitewater Opera Companies where she was also a long-time resident choreographer. She has been a professor of dance at Wright State University since 1994, and also teaches regularly at various studios throughout Ohio such as Pontecorvo Ballet Studio, South Dayton School of Dance, and the Miami Valley Dance Teachers Association. Michelle is proud of the dance foundation that she received growing up in Marquette and is thrilled to be coming home to do what she is so passionate about…teaching!

The dance competition will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26^th at Kaufman Auditorium. Grand prize winner will receive a $300 gift certificate from the Second Skin Shop. Interested dancers must pre-register by Monday, July 24^th.

A Dance Showcase will be held 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27^th at Kaufman Auditorium and feature Amanda Stanley, TAMAMA Dance Company, the competition winners, & participants from the workshops. Advanced tickets: Youth/Student: $8.00, Seniors: $10, Adult: $12.00.
