A new science fiction book group meeting at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.
On Wednesday, June 21 at 7:00 pm, the Peter White Library will be hosting the first meeting of its new book club, Sci-Fi on Tap, at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.
Since the summer reading theme at the library is “Build a Better World,” we will begin with utopias. Our first novel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, published in 1932, explores how genetic breeding, social indoctrination and pharmaceuticals can create a utopian society. Not only will we discuss what it takes to create a utopian society, but also whether the novel holds up as both a story and science fiction over the 85 years since it was written.
We will be meeting in the Tap Room, so look for a PWPL sign and the book, Brave New World. There is no admission charge to attend. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
