On Tuesday June 20, at 12:30 pm, the Peter White Public Library will show Hidden Figures in the library’s community room as part of its Matinee Movie series.  Bring your own lunch and enjoy the movie in a dinner theater setting.  Closed captioning will be on to ensure access for all.

In this 2016 movie based on a true story, three African American mathematicians, Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson, serve as “human computers,” calculating the launch of John Glenn into space and ensuring his safe return.  This movie won the Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding performance by a motion picture cast, and numerous awards from the African American Film Critics Association including ranking third in the top 10 movies of 2016.  Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, this historical drama is rated PG and runs 2 hours 7 minutes.
