This sculptural exhibition presents artwork by Amber Dohrenwend and MARESA Students. It is on display in the Huron Mountain Gallery April through the end of May. The opening reception will be held Thursday, April 11th at 6pm. An artist talk for this gallery will take place at 6:30pm.

This curated showcase highlights cardboard sculptures crafted by students from MARESA who are actively engaged in the Michigan Arts Access (MiAA) Artist in Residence program. MiAA, a prominent statewide initiative, fosters collaboration between special education students and accomplished visual artists in diverse domains such as dance, music, and the visual arts.

Within this exhibition, students had the invaluable opportunity to collaborate with the esteemed local artist, Amber Dohrenwend, delving into the creative potential of cardboard to fashion an array of objects—from evocative spirit animals and mesmerizing masks to thought-provoking sculptural texts and expansive installations. Through their explorations, these budding artists skillfully conveyed the depth of emotion in three-dimensional form, showcasing the transformative power of artistic expression.
