This year, the City Office of Arts and Culture presents a weekend of arts advocacy events leading up to the annual Art Awards ceremony on Sunday, October 15th. The City of Marquette is proud to present the State of the Arts Event Series, a showcase of our community’s creativity and collaborations. This weekend aims to explore different corners of our creative community and connect artists, audience, and advocates.

Opening Reception for Public Gallery Program Exhibits

WHEN: Thursday, October 12th, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
WHERE: Peter White Public Library (217 N Front St)
The series kicks off with an evening at the Peter White Public Library. The bi-monthly opening reception for Public Gallery Program exhibits serves as a venue to connect with local visual artists and appreciators, learn about the process of creation and inspiration through artist talks, and experience a variety of artistic mediums and subject matter:

Public Art Walking Tour

WHEN: Saturday, October 14th, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
(Walking Tour departs at 2:10 PM, Return for coffee and conversation by 3:15 PM)

Join us for a Public Art Walking Tour around the ever-changing Founders Landing area on a short route accessible to all. Delve into the past, present, and future of public art in Marquette. The tour will spark thought-provoking conversations about the role of public art in shaping our vibrant community.

Annual Art Awards

WHEN: Sunday, October 15th, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
WHERE: Masonic Red Room Theatre (128 W Washington)
DRESS: Semi-formal attire
As the sun sets on the State of the Arts weekend, we invite you to the Masonic Red Room Theatre for a night of celebration. Join us for a Cocktail Hour Reception and Awards Show, where we recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of our local creatives. The evening promises to be a memorable affair, and the public is warmly welcome.
