Call for Exhibits - Public Gallery Program

The Public Gallery Program is a partnership between the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture and the Peter White Public Library that provides inclusive and accessible exhibit space for artists and audiences. Two gallery spaces, the Deo Gallery and the Huron Mountain Club Gallery, host rotating exhibits bimonthly featuring professional and community art of all mediums.

Exhibit proposals for the following year are welcomed between February and March.
Exhibit proposals for 2024 are due by 5:00PM on Friday March 31, 2023
Proposals will be juried, and applicants notified by early May.
There is no fee to apply.
Each applicant may only propose one exhibit.

The jury is composed of members of the Public Gallery Program’s Curation Committee, a seven-member committee of staff, artists, curators, university faculty, art collectors, and local creatives.

Eligibility:

• All mediums will be accepted
• Artists over 18 years of age are eligible to apply, Artists under 18 must apply with a sponsoring adult as the primary applicant.
• Artwork must be original
• Incomplete applications will not be considered
• Applications received after the due date will not be considered

Application Process
Interested artists and curators should complete the form below.* Applications may be submitted for an individual artist, artist group, or a curated exhibition.  If applying as an artist pair or group, please only submit one application for the proposed exhibit.

*All applicants must fill out the form. Submit attachments via email to apruiett@marquettemi.gov, please consolidate them into one email with the SUBJECT: Public Gallery Program Application
