CALL FOR ENTRIES – SUMMMER CITY HALL ART EXHIBIT:
INSPIRED BY WATER

City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture is excited to announce a call for entries for Summer City Hall Community Exhibit: Inspired by Water. Local artists are invited to submit a ready to hang art piece inspired by water. This exhibit is a kickoff to the City of Marquette Art Week 2022, What does WATER mean to you? For more information visit https://www.mqtcompass.com/artweek/

Artwork will can be dropped off at at the City Arts and Culture Center (lower level of PWPL) during City office hours (M-F 10-5pm) through Wednesday June 15th or at City Hall on Thursday June 16th between 10am and 5pm

Eligibility

Non-juried, all ages. All artwork must be ready to hang on the wall with wire or loop hanger (no sawtooth). One entry per person. All artwork must be inspired by Water

Submission Guidelines 

Submissions must be ready to hang and can be dropped off at the City Arts and Culture Center (lower level of PWPL) during City office hours (M-F 10-5pm) through Wednesday June 15th or at City Hall (300 W Baraga) on Thursday June 16th between 10am and 5pm. Alternate drop off time can be arranged by reaching out to the Office of Arts and Culture (906)228-0472
The following information is required for each image: Artist’s first and last name, Artist’s contact information, title of work, medium, and date of completion.
Artwork can be recent or older work.
Imagery and/or content should be appropriate for all ages.
By submitting artwork, you give the Office of Arts and Culture permission to publish image(s) of your creative work on the MQTcompass.com as an online gallery of the show.
Marquette City Office of Arts and Culture reserves the right to use photos of all or some of the work to promote the event for the duration of the exhibit and prior and after the exhibit.
Artwork is display only and not for sale.
​Awards

Popular Choice – A ballot box will be placed at the exhibit for the community to vote for their favorite piece. The tally of these combined entries will determine the popular choice winner. The winner will be featured on the Marquette Compass website. Voting guidelines are as follows:

One vote per person. Honor system – this is all in the spirit of community building and good fun.
Voting period will close Friday, August 26th. The popular choice winner will be announced the following week.

Timeline​

Through June 15 - Accepting submissions at City Arts and Culture Center

June 16 – Drop off artwork to City Hall

June 17 – Exhibit Installation at City Hall

June 20 - September 29 – Exhibit duration

June 20-August 26 – Public voting period (Winners announced last week of August)

September 29th – Exhibit takedown

September 30th – Artwork pick up from City Hall
*Special accommodations can be arranged with ample notice
